Language Learning and Testing Foundation

Language aptitude tests are designed to predict the ability of an individual to learn a foreign language given a specific amount of instruction and appropriate conditions for learning.  A language aptitude test does not test language skills.  Rather it taps the principal underlying cognitive abilities that are relied on by learners of a second language.  The pages that follow are designed to provide a basic orientation to the cognitive trait known as language aptitude and some of its practical applications.
